In their words
"I have worked with Shiree for over five years as a strategy and evaluation consultant, supporting the Youth Leadership portfolio I manage at The California Endowment. Over that time, I have found Shiree to be incredibly insightful and a real thought-partner in building a cross-cutting grant making strategy from the ground up. Shiree brings many talents to the table that blends her deep knowledge of community and intergenerational organizing, philanthropy and facilitative leadership skills. As a result of our work together, TCE’s Youth Strategy has become deeply embedded across the Foundation's work of supporting youth as health equity change makers across the state."
- Albert Maldonado,
Senior Program Manager, The California Endowment
"Shiree Teng is the sharpest, most brilliant and masterful learning and evaluation consultant I've ever worked with. She brings an inimitable mix of challenging inquiry and loving attentiveness in working with groups that allow us to do our best work. When I look to refresh my organization's theory of change, build a learning and evaluation system or simply get wise counsel on organizational development concerns, Shiree is the person I call."
- Rajasvini Bhansali,
Executive Director, Solidaire Network
"…your deep commitment to the mission, your keen listening skills, your long experience in movement settings—a winning combination. Pro that you are, you make it look easy—what we see is grace and beauty, rather than the years of strength-building and practice behind the performance. Your heart is in the work, and it makes all the difference. Thank you."
- Sara Gould and Joyce Follet, Steinem Initiative, Smith College
"Shiree is a delight to work with! She is skilled in helping leaders and organizations see themselves clearly (warts and all) while holding up a kind mirror. This makes change not only possible, but rewarding. She was instrumental in leading Rockwood's Nature Inspired Direction Setting process, which has given us the blueprint for three years of organizational change and growth, and unlike many "strategic plans," we use it regularly.
As a coach, Shiree is thorough, wise and kind. It is a pleasure to work with and be in partnership with her."
- Akaya Windwood, Former Executive Director / CEO, Rockwood Leadership Institute
"As an ED of 15 years, I've worked with many consultants. Shiree is hands down, one of the best. She is the first person I recommend for strategic planning, evaluation, coaching, and facilitation. She is results driven, innovative, and a joy to work with! Our organization has grown tremendously over the last 10 years and we need consultants who can address the complexities and challenges that arise. Shiree constantly pushes herself to learn and be more effective and there is nothing that I throw her way that she can’t handle. I can’t recommend her highly enough."
- Eveline Shen, Executive Director, Forward Together
"You make me smile : ) Stretch is good! I think "yes" to what you say about who's even in the room with power, and also really hear that there's a distinction between access (having input) and impact (having input influence the outcome). I think a lot of orgs are having trouble about what "inclusion" really means when it's still upper management making all the calls--if they're not willing to share power they shouldn't pretend to (same with engaging their grantees/communities). Love seems a super big challenge to get a big org to wrap their arms around--and what that looks like: that love too can be uncomfortable, risky, when it's more than platitudes. If they're up to the challenge, I know you're one who can take them there."
